Kmart interview questions

After I completed my online application, I was told to schedule an interview date. My interview with the manager was short and awkward. She was nice, but she looked mainly at her computer which made the whole interview uncomfortable. She asked me several questions (what brings you to Kmart? what college are you going to go to? how old are you? what special skills do you have?), and the interview stopped after she came across my hours that I am available. She told me that she needed someone who could work nights, and I told her I had to ask my parents. I called her an hour later, and I got the job. I had a background check and drug test done the following week and then I had to wait about 2 weeks before I actually started training. The manager will most likely tell you to keep calling, and I would advise you to do so because you might get forgotten amongst the many new hires that he/she has.

Applied online and never heard anything back. Applied again and called the store a week later and requested to speak with someone in HR to inquire and was told that they would soon be reviewing applications and if interested they would call me. Received a call the following week for an interview, if you can call it that. Was asked only a few situational questions and basically hired right then, with no formal job offer verbally extended. They conducted a background check which took 2 days to complete, no reference check, and no drug test was required.
