I applied online. The process took 1 week. I interviewed at Kmart (Temecula, CA) in Oct 2012
Interview
Two interviews one with HR the next with the manager of the department I chose. Kmart just wanted a specific amount of employees for the holiday season so they basically hired anyone. Both interviews were friendly and fast. You pick which department you wanted to work in softlines or hardlines then which position in the department. Basic interview questions super easy job is pretty much garunteed. During the holiday season they honestly just need a quota of people to fill in the jobs they needed.
I applied online. The process took 1 day. I interviewed at Kmart (Las Vegas, NV) in Apr 2013
Interview
The 1st interview I went to at Kmart was a group interview. There were about 15 hopefuls who attended. The interview lasted about 20 minutes. They passed around a piece of paper and had us sign our name and then they went around the room and had everyone introduce themselves. They explained a few things about the company and then they told us the HR manager would be calling us within the next few days. That was the extent of the 1st interview... 1 down...2 to go!
I applied online. The process took 4 weeks. I interviewed at Kmart (Brownsburg, IN)
Interview
My first contact with the company as a prospective employee was through the in-store application kiosk. The applications consisted of the usual, "who are you and what do you know" questions, then went into a "how would you respond to x situation" section that was designed to analyze your personality and customer service skills. 1-2 weeks after applying I had not heard anything, so I went to the store and talked to the customer service representative at the customer service desk. She called the HR person who immediately asked me to come back for an interview. The interview process was relaxed and friendly, but still somewhat formal. After the interview, I was told that I was a good candidate, but the interviewer would need to talk to a couple other managers and I might have to do two more interviews. About a week later I got a call offering me the job.
Interview questions [1]
Question 1
The most difficult question was asking for an example of a problem I had recently run into in my life and how I solved it.
