It was quick because they desperately needed seasonal employees. She asked the questions listed below, and hired me on the spot. Called back a couple hours later to say my background check came back clear and asked if I would attend orientation that day. I declined so Orientation started the next day.
Interview questions [1]
Question 1
Tell me about yourself. Tell me about a time you delivered excellent customer service. How do you manage doing multiple things at once. When are you available.
Quick and fast. Asked about my past experience and a little about myself. I knew I was going to get the job. The hiring manager was sweet and got straight to the point on what the job was like and what I would be doing
I applied through an employee referral. The process took 1 week. I interviewed at Kmart (Brooklyn, OH) in Dec 2013
Interview
I wasn't asked any questions really, just briefed on the job description again and told to bring back a work permit to get started. The HR rep was very warm and kind with a good sense of humor. It was winter and very cold, she joked about obviously needing a huge blue coat to keep warm while getting carts from outside. We discussed the work permit process since I was only 16 at the time and I was on my way. Finished my work permit within 5 days, passed my drug test, and was asked to come back for a group orientation. It was only me and one other guy who showed up out of 5. Orientation lasted about an hour or so, we signed papers and she gave us a tour of the store. I started the next week.
