I applied online. I interviewed at Klarna (Berlín) in Dec 2020
Interview
The process for me was:
- HR talk
- Preliminary tests: simple code challenges + logical pattern finding.
- Technical interview that included both programming questions & team building/project handling.
- Cultural fit interview (in-between cultural fit to Engineering manager interview)
- Feedback session was my last stage.
I think overall they have a very nice recruitment process (even though the IQ test seems redundant to me). All the people that interviewed me were nice, respectable, and friendly. The feedback session, in the end, is also greatly appreciated and helpful.
Tips for future candidates:
- The logical pattern test is *much* easier if you take the time and use their practice material.
- They take their company values seriously. Answers that exemplify a contradicting value, even if valid and even if you have a flexible approach, might impact the interview negatively.
Interview questions [1]
Question 1
It's not cool to share questions :)
Focus on:
- Technical implementation of small scale computer sciencey question.
- Ways of working in a team top to bottom.
- Product creation process from scratch to production)
- Standard Engineering Manager questions.
I applied through a recruiter. The process took 2 months. I interviewed at Klarna (Estocolmo, ) in Jan 2025
Interview
Screening interview, then Cultural Fit in parallel with a case interview, they added a technical interview more connected to system design, then meeting other L4.5s, and offer after a few weeks. The interviews were rushed and I felt interviewers checking boxes instead of trying to establish a meaningful connection
Interview questions [1]
Question 1
How to keep engineers motivated during challenging times?
During the behavioral interview the interviewer was not experienced and wasted a lot of time discussing experiences from years ago instead of more recent related experiences
I didn't push forward for the next steps in the end but I didn't get a very good impression
Solid and well run, got to meet quite a few people from the Engineering Organization. I wouldn't change anything, as this process totally met my expectations, even though it took a bit longer that I wanted it to.
