      Software Engineer Interview

      Anonymous Interview Candidate
      Secaucus, NJ
      Declined offer
      Negative experience
      Average interview

      Application

I applied through a recruiter. The process took 4 weeks. I interviewed at Jet (Secaucus, NJ) in Jul 2016

      Interview

I was contacted by their in house recruiter. They asked what I was looking for, including my target salary. I happily gave it. There seemed to be no issue. The first round was a tech screen via screen share. It was a very straight forward and pleasurable. The next step was several rounds on site. Before going in, I again tried to make sure that my target salary was in their range. The interviews with the tech team were all fun and straight forward. No really obscure algorithmic questions or brain teasers. It was on a white board which is disappointing, but not unexpected. After more than a week after coming in, and having to prod for updates, I was finally given an offer. The offer was ~50k less than my current salary, and ~70k less than the target I had shared with them. After a bit of back and forth, it became apparent that my requirements were well out of their range. It seems like the tech team is good, but the recruiting organization is really lacking.

      Application

I applied through college or university. The process took 3 months. I interviewed at Jet

      Interview

Applied online. Got an invitation to the coding challenge a month later. Then got an invitation to a technical phone interview. The interviewer is friendly and willing to give hints. I didn’t think I did great because I apparently screwed up some stuff. They still let me pass and send me an email to schedule the final round interview with a team manager. We talked about a lot of non-technical things. The conversation was pleasant. Got a call a few days later and accepted the offer. The whole process took me 4 months and I wish it could be faster.
