Recently, I participated in a HireVue interview, which is an online assessment where candidates respond to pre-recorded questions on video. During my session, I encountered a variety of questions drawn from their question bank, covering market knowledge, behavioral scenarios, and technical skills relevant to the position. Although I spent time preparing beforehand, I found the experience challenging, especially since the interview was automated and there was little opportunity for real-time feedback or interaction. The time constraints added extra pressure, making it difficult to organize my thoughts and deliver confident, structured responses. Ultimately, I did not pass this stage of the interview process. While I was disappointed, I see this as a valuable learning experience. It highlighted the importance of practicing my responses out loud, becoming more comfortable on camera, and familiarizing myself with common interview frameworks like STAR to answer behavioral questions more effectively. Going forward, I plan to seek feedback when possible, continue practicing virtual interview techniques, and make use of resources like mock interviews and workshops to improve my performance. Despite not progressing this time, I am motivated to use what I learned to better prepare for future opportunities and enhance my interview skills.
