I applied online. The process took 4 months. I interviewed at J.P. Morgan in Oct 2021
Interview
Absolutely atrocious interview process. Process went as such:
1: After application submission, was invited for a HireVue interview (3-4 questions, 2 easy questions - questions like finding the standard deviation of an array, 2 medium - DSA questions - decode ways)
2: After THREE months, I get a call for a Super Day.
3: Super Day was 3x45. 1 behavioral, 1 technical, 1 case. Very unorganized. The had all the applicants in one big Zoom call and then split off into breakout rooms. I was in the middle of an interview and then got swapped into another breakout room because they had assigned me to the wrong interviewer.
I was told to study SQL and DS&A. There was no SQL. There was no DS&A. In fact, there was not a single line of code written during the entire interview. The "technical" component consisted of a rapid-fire trivia question round (explain an algorithm, explain x vs. y metrics, what is the equation for ...) basically rote memorization ape-level questions.
The behavioral round was standard - "tell me about a time..." type questions.
The case study was terrible. Interviewer was unnecessarily critical. Did not explain the case study well at all. Disinterested and disengaged, rarely helped after asking questions. Instead, interviewer told me that they were surprised that I had gotten past the resume screen since my resume didn't have the words "data science" on it.
Overall waste of 3 hours and terrible organization by the JPMC recruiting team
Hirevue coding challenge with video responses after explaining how you approached the problem.
Simple two problems, one is decode ways and the other is capitalizing the first letter of every word in a string.
