I applied through an employee referral. The process took 2 months. I interviewed at Ipsos (Toronto, ON) in Feb 2010
Interview
The interview was a two stage process. An HR rep screens possible applicants and forwards those who pass to the VP of the department you are applying for. The first interview is very, very general. This one is about being a generally good, reliable, bright worker. Only the second interview actually gets department specific. The first one is about generally impressing an HR rep, who looks for more standard things like professionalism, attitude, etc. The second one is about if the VP gets a good vibe from you, if you have a good connection, and if you will be a good fit for the team.

Question 1
The HR interview is all standard questions, nothing out of the ordinary. The VP one is totally at the whim and discretion of the VP hiring you. Worry less about specific questions and more about presenting yourself well and accurately.
First round was a phone screen with recruiter, then proceeded with a group interview, and lastly interview with VP of the team. The process took about a month. Communication was consistent throughout
First, a phone interview was conducted to determine the time for an in-person interview. The in-person interview lasted one hour and primarily assessed individual abilities; it required a presentation to illustrate a case study.

Question 1
Why did you choose this position and this company?
It was straightforward and an easy process. I was not hired, but they did send me a polite rejection email. You are asked questions about research processes, as well as experiences.
