The interview process at this company was initiated by the HR department having found my resume on the web. After passing the initial test, I was then lined up with the actual hiring manager. That interview was obviously more detailed and lasted about 30 minutes. The call ended with a promise to get back to me after they had interviewed the rest of the candidates who had applied. About 4 days later I was informed that I made the cut and would be set up to be interviewed by 3 managers that I would have working relationships. Those went well with one exception. I was told that the word partner was a forbidden word and that it could end up in being terminated. WHAT! The company on its website lists extensively their relationships with partners and how they are growing their channel. Lucky me I was then invited to corporate for the final round of interviews. I met with senior management which went so so. I had done my homework and asked all the right questions and provided the right responses. But when I asked about partners and how they fit in the big picture you would think that the wrath of God was coming down on me. They told me that their sales staff in many cases made the decision to work with partners for services rather than in-house personnel. Hmmmm. Why? Not much was provided in the way of a response, the meeting went cold from there on out. Needless to say, I didn't get the job. Further research afterwards revealed that the services group is in turmoil due to the replication of the type of merger/acquisition growth Oracle implemented as a method of eliminating competition and growing their dominance over SAP. Many of their good people had left and hung their own shingle and that didn't sit well. I wasn't much impressed with the service group management there. No vision!
