      Interview

The interview process was a standard 4 round interview process. They asked about my sales qualifications and communication style. They also asked about the biggest difficulty I encountered while going through the sales process. I landed the job!

      Application

I applied through a recruiter. The process took 3 days. I interviewed at Indigo (Memphis, TN) in Jun 2019

      Interview

1st interview was typical HR phone interview, 2nd was hiring manager on the phone, 3rd was in person in Memphis. The 2nd Interview had to be rescheduled 3 times and hiring manager called 1hr late to where I missed and called him back. It was a short call and he made sure I understood agriculture. I told him and the recruiter I don’t have sales experience for this role, but I understand ag and I understand how to build relationships- both told me would be no problem. They flew me out to Memphis and put me in a nice hotel extremely close to the office. My interview was at 9am and at 7am I got an email that who I was interviewing with changed, the only thing I didn’t like was I wouldn’t be interviewing with who would be my boss. By the time, I got there each person I interviewed with changed by minute literally. My first person was rescheduled 1 minute after meeting me and it just kept changing all day. Only 1 guy stayed on the schedule the entire time and he was ridiculously unprofessional to where I thought I don’t want to work with somebody like this anyhow. He cussed and didn’t let me get a word in edgewise. I’ve never been interrupted in the middle of giving a response. I guess he was trying to make the interview like a normal conversation, but he took it too far- we’re not actually at a bar. He had been with the company for a little over a year. He really was a bit of a joke- he should not be interviewing people. I would have rather interviewed with 5 people at once, so someone could have called him out on his bs. I interviewed with 5 people who had been with the company no longer than a year and a half. One was 3 months... Ultimately, I didn’t get the job because I didn’t have enough sales experience which I can understand. But what is disappointing is not getting to talk to the hiring manager in person and basically people randomly chosen to interview me that haven’t been at Indigo long being last minute making it seem like a chore. Also, when I walked in to the office thinking wow what a breath of fresh air with diversity, but my interview was 4 white males. Why waste everyone’s time and money if the no sales experience was going to hold me back? I will day office as beautifuk, people were friendly, and everyone genuinely seemed happy to work there. Adaptability and change are important, but there is a point where you become inefficient.
