I applied online. The process took 2 weeks. I interviewed at Home Depot Canada (Calgary, AB) in Jul 2014
Interview
There is a screening questionnaire during the online application process - I didn't hear anything about it again. Then there is a phone interview, and if you are suitable, they even email you interview tips. Then I got a call from the store level HR manager, and set up an in-person interview.
It was quick and organized, conducted by the HR manager and the Department Supervisor. There was the usual review of employment history, skills, related qualifications. Nothing out of the ordinary at all. They were very open to answering questions about why it was a great place to work and what could be expected during an average day. I now know that they have a script to follow - they present several hypothetical situations and ask what you would do, and rate your responses. If you read up on the value wheel on the website, and answer the questions in such a way that your responses are in line with the values, your will rate highly even without related experience.

Question 1
How can you translate your skill set to our workplace? Why do you want to work here?
I applied online. The process took 1+ week. I interviewed at Home Depot Canada (Oakville, ON) in May 2016
Interview
I applied for the position online, part-time for the summer. I submitted my resume and cover letter and did an assessment with personality questions and choosing the best/worst response in different scenarios presented. I got a call 3 days later from the Retail Staffing Centre in Toronto for a phone screen. Very basic questions about my availability and previous cashier experience. I then got booked in for an interview at the beginning of the following week.
The in-person interview was with one of the managers or supervisors in the store and was very straight-forward as well. She asked me 6 questions from a booklet and wrote down my answers. They were all situational questions and about customer service. They checked my references that same day and I got a call later in the day from the HR manager. I went back two days later and got a job offer on the spot.
I applied online. The process took 5 weeks. I interviewed at Home Depot Canada (Port Coquitlam, BC) in Apr 2016
Interview
Got called and asked to come in for an interview almost immediately after applying. They scheduled me for an interview which they had to reschedule. They emailed me all the information for the interview which was helpful. Went to the interview and they got the name wrong for the person who was doing the interview, she was also unaware that she had to do an interview that day so I had to wait about half an hour to take my interview. They notified me about 3 weeks later by email that I did not get the job because, I was not qualified but, they did call my references.
