      Driver-Guide Interview

      Oct 1, 2015
      Anonymous employee
      Anchorage, AK
      Accepted offer
      Positive experience
      Difficult interview

      Application

I applied through an employee referral. The process took 1 day. I interviewed at Holland America Line (Anchorage, AK) in Jan 2011

      Interview

new employees, it takes a while, one of the 4 managers will take you and interview you 1-1. typically they ask about 20-30 questions about the job position. they range from difficult to easy questions. or so you would think. returning, it's much much shorter but its quite through since they already have an idea of who, how, you work by yourself.

      Application

I applied through an employee referral. I interviewed at Holland America Line (Juneau, AK) in Jan 2016

      Interview

Applied online to the company website. After waiting a few days, I received a call and set up an interview time.Had a phone interview which lasted about 30 minutes. The interview was pretty casual and not too difficult. The interviewer is just trying to get a sense of who you are over the phone, so you want to be as comfortable when you are talking to them. You will be interacting with strangers on a daily basis at this job, so you have to be able to be at ease when you are speaking with people you don't know. Practice answering the normal interview type questions so you can sound smooth.

      Interview questions [1]

      Question 1

Tell me about yourself, and what are you looking for in this job. Tell me about some of the previous jobs you have had and what did you enjoy about them. What were some of the things you liked about your last job, and what were some things you did not like.

      Average interview

      Application

I applied through college or university. The process took 2 weeks. I interviewed at Holland America Line in Jan 2009

      Interview

After I was hired, I was told that I wasn't immediately denied because I dressed in business casual instead of regular street clothes, (no brainer huh!). Then I sat down, did a one on one interview with a lady who asked me personality questions and my ability to entertain large groups of people.

      Question 1

Tell me about a time when you had to entertain a group of people.
