Health IQ, like nearly other SV company, wanted to hire a former MBB strategy consultant as its CEO's chief of staff. I participated in a phone screen in which I'd been tipped off to a few red flags, notwithstanding the hilariously unprofessional and concerning "brag sheet" exercise in which the CEO brags about being smarter than his former friends. The questions largely and intensely focused on culture fit, or the ability to survive what seemed like a tough environment. The recruiter also refused to give me any information about the process through which they priced the role or the range on which they'd settled. (Always a bad sign.)
The company seems constrained in its hiring, knowing that its office environment in which jokes are made at employee expense will cause a lot of people to leave. That sort of behavior risks shaping a toxic and bully-driven behavior, and so I chose not to move on in the process.
