I applied through a staffing agency. The process took 2 weeks. I interviewed at HCLTech (Bengaluru) in Jul 2016
Interview
Bangaloreans avoid HCL Chennai
Last week I was called for an interview in HCL Bangalore office. As soon as I reached there there was only one interview panel who was on a phone taking interview from Chennai via conferencing. He asked me 4 question I answered all of them. They asked me to fill an usual HCL interview process form and asked me to leave saying there will be an second round in Chennai.
Later that Tuesday I got a call from them saying there's a second round interview in Bangalore itself the coming Saturday. My immediate question to HR was why wasn't the formality completed last week. He reply was "A you know there was only one interview panel present last week" (Then why the hell did you waste my time - Heights of unprofessional - From HCL HR team).
Now coming to recruitment the interviewer saw my resume and asked me whether I'm okay for Chennai (If I wasn't okay then why the hell would I attend the interview). He continued " You have done all your schooling and college in Bangalore so is it okay for you to move to Chennai. I said yes. Its just another city more over I'm unmarried so I don't have any dependency. But your a Bangalorean will you still be able to move. (I didn't understand what he is trying to prove. I felt he was trying to make me uncomfortable).
Here's the best part - The questions
Implement Abstraction and Encapsulation in C# - I gave him an appropriate example.
Can you tell me the concept virtual and override - I started with inheritance explaining him about the concept of method hiding and warning the compiler throws during the building when we have same method implemented in all derived classes. While explaining he interrupted and asked me "Why are you explaining the concept of hiding when I've asked you virtual and override". I was shocked to hear that. I understood he doesn't want me to answer his questions.
Later it was all mere formality I came out and decided never to take HCL interview again.
the interview process is good. First round was face to face round and all othethe interview process is good. First round was face to face round and all others are virtual rounds. Communication with HR is good.rs are virtual rounds.
The interview process is quite confusing and unstructured. It starts with two technical rounds, followed by an HR round. However, even after the HR discussion, there is an additional manager round that is highly technical. The manager round is particularly frustrating, as it is initially presented as a 15-minute call but ends up lasting around 45 minutes, with questions asked in a rushed manner. Additionally, the feedback timeline is very slow, with about 10 days between each round. Because of these delays and the unclear process
Technical Round 1: Java fundamentals, Map concepts, and basic Spring Boot questions.
Technical Round 2: Java coding problems and problem-solving discussion.
HR Round: Behavioral questions, communication evaluation, and discussion about experience, expectations, and company culture fit.
