This was a few years ago, but it just came to mind and I wanted to share some feedback about the experience. I remember applying for an HR role and being interviewed by Rhia Girmendonk Dee for the initial interview.
From what I recall, the interaction felt quite cold. She asked me to start by asking questions rather than asking about my background first. I’m generally a curious person and I do like asking questions, but I usually do that after the interviewer has asked about my experience and the conversation has flowed a bit more naturally.
In that situation, I was expecting to first share my background and experience, but since the format was different, I ended up asking most of the questions and sharing my experience as part of my responses. Because of that, the conversation felt a bit awkward and less like a natural dialogue.
Overall, the interaction felt quite procedural and there was limited rapport, which made the experience feel less warm or engaging than I had expected.
