I applied through an employee referral. I interviewed at Google
Interview
I had 2 telephone interviews with Google - the first was the normal hangout session where I was asked the standard questions about my experience. The second was a problem solving interview, which confused me as I knew this wasn't the standard Google interview format (usually next stage is in person meeting). The interview consisted of 3 hypothetical questions - 2 of which had nothing to do with recruitment and the aim was to see how your thought process worked. My interviewer phrased questions very negatively e.g. 'Can you not think of anything else?' As a recruiter myself, I would never phrase questions like this as it leaves a bad impression with the candidate (which it did with me). I also spoke to several people in the Dublin office who were cold and unhelpful. Overall, even if Google wanted to proceed with me - I wouldn't have accepted as the interview process is not candidate focussed at all, and the interviewers were uninspiring.
Interview questions [1]
Question 1
1) 'You are asked to lead a training programme at Google and the attendance is low - what do you do next'
2) 'How do we check that our customers are happy with our product'
I applied online. The process took 1+ week. I interviewed at Google (New York, NY) in Apr 2016
Interview
I was interviewing for a role based in the NY office, the recruiter was located in Texas. He cancelled our original interview the morning of the interview (our interview was scheduled for the morning); it was rescheduled for 6 days later. When we spoke it literally lasted 3 minutes! He asked me the following questions: 1) Q - Where are you located? A - In New York (which should have been obvious from my resume...). 2) Q - This position is based out of California. Are you okay with relocating to California? A - Not at this time. He then said he would keep my resume on file for future opportunities.
After waiting 12 days for a first round interview I would have expected more from the recruiter, especially a recruiter from Google. He could have asked over email if I was interested in relocating, at which point I would have told him 'no.' Instead, I moved things around on my calendar and prepped for an interview that took all of 3 minutes.
I applied through a recruiter. The process took 3 weeks. I interviewed at Google (Londres, Inglaterra) in May 2016
Interview
Was approached by a Recruiter for positions at Google, then spoke to another recruiter to discuss roles they may have then scheduled another call with another recruiter....
really didnt enjoy it, working for a startup you really make a difference. the recruiter was interested in data metrics / numbers / billings (as i was ex-agency). really not a role for me, dont want to be a number in a big company
