Interview
Took over three months, from initial contact to offer. Was reached out by a PM, then went through four interviews. The interviews were mostly behavioral / "tell me about [xyz] work experience". Nothing too difficult. The first two were quick, but the last two interviews took forever to schedule because they were with highest-ranked managers at Google.
Received offer. Was not happy with the compensation package (it was sub Bay Area standard salary.... really, Google?), but accepted for the experience.
I applied through an employee referral. The process took 2 weeks. I interviewed at Google in Mar 2015
Interview
Got a phone call from the hiring manager. Asked a number of systems related questions but strangely none pertaining directly to my resume. Felt like he was looking for experienced candidates.

Question 1
What design considerations would you have for designing a switch mode power supply?
I applied through a recruiter. The process took 1+ week. I interviewed at Google
Interview
Contacted by recruiter regarding a hardware engineering position. When I got to the interview I was informed that it was actually a different job than the job description. That point didn't matter anyways since the interviewer didn't ask completely relevant questions for that position but it was still frustrating since I am more than qualified for the "real" job. Their loss!
I really feel the interviewer didn't understand my background which ultimately hurt me. Make sure the interviewer understands your background early in the interview which can help set their expectations.
Even though i didn't get past the phone screen I do like their very clear cut process. It is laid out well for you by the recruiter.
