I applied online. I interviewed at General Motors (GM) (Austin, TX) in Aug 2020
Interview
HireVue videos, HireVue coding challenge, quick chat with a manager, final interviews mostly behavioral. Finally I got a call a few days later from an IT director basically telling me I am a strong candidate and likely going to get the job. A couple days later I got the official letter.
Interview questions [1]
Question 1
Asked me about my software engineering experience, asked me a few specific questions about how to do things with those technologies. Mostly behavioral.
I applied through an employee referral. The process took 2 weeks. I interviewed at General Motors (GM) in Apr 2021
Interview
5 STAR questions on HireView, coding assessments (program that converts Morse to text & I forgot the other one), and then phone screen (only made it this far). Phone screen was really simple and apparently they only had positions open in Michigan. I applied for the Austin location, and was never told about that until the phone screen. She knew I was not convinced and same day received a rejection email. I live 3 hours from Austin and I would not like to live in Detroit. I don’t buy it (I have 2 friends at the Austin location) since I was told Austin location is still hiring. Back to job hunting!
