The process took 3 weeks.Ā I interviewed at General Motors (GM) (Warren, MI) in Jan 2024
Interview
It was a pretty easy interview, nothing really hard. A java problem with Lists and a SQL statement to write. Then, a discussion around software development practices. Also, I was asked about my experiences with previous companies. The funniest part about it was I woke up one morning and I read my unread emails as part of my morning ritual. I was shocked that I had a email from a GM recruiter claiming that I didn't show up for an interview that morning and asked why. Well, I told him it's kind of hard to join an interview when nobody contacted you by phone, email, text, etc. I thought it was one of those scam job interview emails that people are getting. So, I went to the GM careers site and check the statuses of my applications and sure enough, the position was in the status of 'Interview'. I called the recruiter back and told him not a single person reached out to me in any form to let me know when I have this interview and who I would be interviewing with. This is not a good look. In fact, I got ghosted by a recruiter recently for a job where I did receive an email to schedule a phone screen. I also never got contacted about the feedback or next steps for the interview I actually had been rescheduled from December's debacle in January. Pretty sad. If GM operates this way throughout the rest of the company, then I'll pass on applying to anymore positions.
