I applied through other source. The process took 1 day. I interviewed at General Motors (GM) (Tempe, AZ) in Oct 2015
Interview
I went to the ASU Engineering Career Fair knowing GM would be there and planned on giving them my resume. I got there a little late and GM was just packing up to leave, but I ran over and asked if there was any way they could still take my resume. The guy I asked said they were going to be leaving and I had missed them, but he could still take a quick look. He must have been looking for something in particular (not sure what), because something caught his eye and he said "actually wait just a second" and he went over to the guy in charge of recruitment to tell him something. Next thing I knew I was scheduling a 1st round interview for the next day (several other days were available).
The next day I met with an employee for the interview on the ASU Tempe campus. The interview was 1 on 1, lasted about 30 mins, and was just a few behavioral questions and I was given time to ask any questions I had. It was easy mostly because most questions asked were already listed on here, and I had examples/stories ready. She read mostly off a script and took notes while I talked, then told me a little about the company and asked if I had questions. She had been working for GM for about 3 months before this interview and was in web development.
Near the end of the interview we scheduled a second interview the following week. I was told I would be contacted before the interview and told a time and place by the person in charge of recruitment (who would be conducting the interview).
Unfortunately, I was never contacted. I emailed the girl who interviewed me, who said he was probably just busy and would get to me eventually. About two weeks later he called me, but always seemed to call while I was on the freeway driving to a class. We have literally been playing phone tag since thanks to the holidays, finals, graduation, and me having no idea when he is able to answer his phone.
Interview questions [1]
Question 1
Tell me about a time when you had to do something you did not know how to do. What was the result and what did you take away.
Took the OA, then had three interviews (coding, debugging, behavior), then technical/behavior
Each interview was around 45 minutes. The coding interview had two medium difficulty questions. Then, I read through a file for debugging. The final interview was with the hiring manager.
I interviewed at General Motors (GM) (Dublín, Dublín)

Video call with 2 panelists, was asked general questions about myself. Was asked verbally how to code a program. How do you approach the problem and what to do to make it better.
I applied through college or university. The process took 2 weeks. I interviewed at General Motors (GM) (Toronto, ON) in Apr 2026
Interview
The interview process consisted primarily of behavioral questions focused on past experiences, teamwork, conflict resolution, and problem-solving. Interviewers were friendly and professional, and the process felt conversational. Be prepared to discuss your background and provide examples using the STAR method.
