I applied online. The process took 2 weeks. I interviewed at General Atomics (Palmdale, CA) in Mar 2018
Interview
I sent my application then shortly after I received a call within 4-5 days after my application was submitted. During the phone call the woman was very polite and asked me if I was still interested in working for the company I said yes and she said “Great we would love to continue forward with your application process and schedule a phone interview...BUT you must first open an email that will be sent to you that will have a link to an online reference app. You must submit 5 references who need to be professional references you’ve worked with/instructors/teachers etc... those 5 references will need to complete a survey on you within 24hrs from today” (this kinda seemed a little weird to me only because I’ve never had to use an app to submit references but I did it) then she said after the references completed the survey I will be sent an addition email on when my PHONE interview will take place. The next day I received my phone interview appointment, then 3 days later I had my phone interview. It went really well the woman who interviewed me was very sweet and informative. I was asked basic questions on reciprocating engines, and how I would deal with an unsatisfied customer also why I want to work for General Atomics. It took about 20-30 mins tops.
Within a few hours of my interview I received an additional email from a different person with General Atomics who wanted to set up a day and time to have an in person interview with me 1 to 2 weeks from my phone interview, he asked me to send him my schedule and available times then he will send me my “In person interview” email... so far the hiring and application process is going rather quickly.

Interview
Horrible, unorganized interview process: Started off with a call from an HR rep, telling me that I will interview on a pre-determined date (without any concern for my schedule). The HR rep also didn't tell me who I was interviewing with. On the day of the interview, the HR rep calls telling me that they need to reschedule an interview (never had this happen to me before) while setting a time without considering my schedule.
On the day of the interview I get a call an hour before the interview, while in class, that the interviewer is ready to interview me (finally) and that he will call me 30 minutes before the scheduled time - ridiculous! Not even knowing who my interviewer is, the manager calls me and is completely unprepared asking ridiculous, informal questions.
Two weeks later I get a template email from the HR team (unsigned) that they are looking at other candidates.
Totally lost all respect for this company and urge others to look for opportunities elsewhere.
I applied online. The process took 4 weeks. I interviewed at General Atomics (San Diego, CA) in Sep 2017
Interview
The Interview process consisted of a phone interview with who would be my direct boss, then a phone interview with her boss after that I was flown out to San Diego for a formal interview. This interview lasted from 9 am to 12:30 pm. In this time I was interview by all the program managers, engineers and the director. I flew back home and the next Monday I got a call saying they were moving forward with me for the position but the position was also upgraded to "Project Manager" during the process so I just needed to reapply for that formal position online before I got a formal offer. After a week of waiting I called (no answer) and then I was told that all of the sudden they were no longer moving forward with me. This was highly unprofessional in my opinion to tell someone that they had the job and a week later said that they no longer are not hiring me.
