I applied in-person. The process took 1 week. I interviewed at Gap (San Francisco, CA) in Feb 2011
Interview
Asked the standard interview questions, not a lot of pressure. My interviewer made it more like an informal conversation. It was one on one, she asked me about my old jobs and what I felt my strengths and weaknesses are. I've seen them interview other people once I started working there and it's the same routine mostly. Do watch out: they are looking for people who "fit the brand" which can sometimes be a euphemism for white, blonde, etc. Depends on the store, I've worked for 3 total and 2 were fine but the last had racist management. As far as retail companies go though, Gap is better on that score than most.
