I applied online. The process took 3 months. I interviewed at Freshfields (Londres, Inglaterra) in Feb 2019
Interview
Written exercise then two interviews. The first a chat about competencies, your experience and CV; the second about a business case study you read 10 minutes beforehand. The first interview is easy to prepare for - basic interview prep, strengths, weaknesses etc.; the second is harder to prep for because you don't know what case study you'll get. It will be business-focused (mine was about franchisers and franchisees) so understanding business news, business models and how different businesses work / the issues they face will be important.
It was quite technical. The questions they asked were very specific. Prepare sufficiently for the questions or you may find yourself out of depth. Otherwise, the interviewers were very friendly and accommodative.
