Several online tests, very typical and expected. Mostly verbal and logical reasoning. Had 2 batteries of tests.
This was followed by an invitation to an interview where I had 4 stages:
1. I was given a set of letters exchanged between several clients and solicitors for which I had to follow some instructions. E.g. Is the solicitor's reply appropriate given the client's request? What did they miss?
2. Then I had to proofread and correct a set of letters from the same document bundle as above.
3. An interview on personal fitness with an associate and a partner. Very standard questions (why law? why a solicitor? don't you think the work itself might be boring? etc)
4. Was given 15-20 minutes with an article from the Financial Times with numbered paragraphs that I had to read, re-read and then re-re-read again to make sure I was comfortable with it and understood all the details. Then a partner and associate tried to push me to understand some of the commercial issues involved (e.g. What happens to workforce costs if factory X closes? Who do you think the clients are? What drives them and their purchasing choice and ability? etc)
