People need to know - One of the worst interview processes I’ve experienced, or have ever heard of.
I was interviewed in normal fashion, with an HR review of my qualifications. I was brought in, interviewed twice in the same week by 5 separate team members. All (mostly) fine up until this point. I was offered the role. (Yay) THEN...
I negotiated the terms of the offer. Since when is it abnormal to counter offer a very initial primary offer? Apparently my 5% counter was too much to even come back to say, well, we really want you, but this is the most we can do. Instead, I was accused of sending mixed messages about my interest in the role. Standard questions about benefits including transportation were turned around suggesting I would come into the office angry after someone cut me off on my commute in to work. My offer was retracted because “I was no longer a good strategic for the team.” I can’t imagine anyone who wasn’t desperate working for this group.
One member of their team went so far as to tell a friend I had two typos in my resume and if it were up to them they would have never offered me the job in the first place.
I consider it a blessing to not have to work with such a confused, unstructured team. Their hiring process needs some severe work.
