The interview process may have been different for me. I applied for the position months before my phone screen. When they called I was actually shocked, but still interested. I then had a phone screen and the recruiter sounded excited and told me they would send my resume to the hiring manager and I would absolutely hear from them within 24 hours. That day came and gone. I gave it a week, called the recruiter and was told “we can’t make your salary, they are going to continue to look for candidates.”. Okay, I understand. I assumed they wanted someone who was an entry level candidate. I did not expect them to call me, again weeks later, not technically apologizing about declining and then started rushing me to interview. The process moved so slow that I no longer was interested. Even if they could match or do better than my salary requested. This made me lose faith in their HR department. However, they may be actively revamping it. It seems more and more common in recent years. I am sure that they will find their candidate. I would advise the company to view the interview process as a two way street. They are seeing if the candidate is a good fit and the candidate is seeing if the company is a good fit.
