I applied online. The process took 3 weeks. I interviewed at Emma (Lisboa, Lisboa) in Feb 2023
Interview
Sent in the resume on their official site and received an email response to take an online cognitive test that is about 4 hours long. Test includes logic thinking and math. you receive the results at the end and wait for Emma's email response.
Interview questions [1]
Question 1
Have you ever worked in a small start-up environment before?
Standardised interview process in two steps with a first interview with a recruiter and then together with hiring manager. The process was relatively fast and information and feedback was very clear which I appreciated. The hiring manager made a sarcastic comment about one of my previous experiences which really shocked me and I decided not to pursue the role further due to this.

Relevant questions on how my previous experience would made me fit for the vacant role, zooming in on challenges and what my strengths are dealing with those.

Interview
Absolutely the WORST interview process I have ever been through - do not waste your time with this company. I asked directly what they look for in candidates and the answer was "entrepreneurship and mindset, we do not care about your past work experiences". The only thing they value is creativity. They are going to ask you a question (like "how would you double the sales of pillows in the German market" or "how do you reach influencers?") and no matter which answer you give, they will keep asking "what else? Be more creative. Can't you think of anything else?" to the point where you feel completely exhausted. Also, they will ask you math questions (the same ones they asked one year ago when I went through their recruitment process, which is funny as they say they keep updating the process) and you cannot use a calculator. They will ask you the questions in an extremely arrogant way to make you feel dumb. They also said that when you are hired for a role you are expected to be a do it all - in these exact words, no exaggeration here. Then, one of the interviewers had an extremely unprofessional reaction by giving his personal opinion with an ironic nasty comment ("isn't that obvious?" "was it a lack of communication of the company or was it your fault?") about the struggles I am experiencing in my current job. In the end, I got feedback: "You are not business-oriented and do not align with our values because you don't take risks and got stuck several times in the interview process when we asked questions." I find it funny that they took these conclusions, even though they know absolutely nothing about my past life and work experiences since they did not take time to ask it. They preferred to ask technical questions about pricing and marketing to a recent grad with little to no work experience. I have never felt so denigrated in my entire professional life and left the interview feeling like I was unworthy. I am writing this review hoping that somebody else resonates but especially as a warning for people looking for a job. There are several companies out there - do not go for Emma.

Question 1
"What would you do to double the pillow sales in Germany?" "How would you measure the success of a marketing campaign?" "How would you reach out to influencers?" (think of 10 ways because they will just keep asking "What else") Stupid math questions - just grab a calculator before the interview and pretend like you are writing on paper when they ask.
