This review is only for the interview process at Eaton, Irvine location. I applied for the Senior Materials Planner position back in July 2021 and few days later I was contacted within days to schedule an on-site interview. Although I was very happy to reach that point of the hiring process, it felt a bit odd that there was no initial phone screen done to gather information from me, discuss my background and my salary expectations. Regardless, I accepted the on-site interview which consisted of me doing a presentation on a problem that I had solved at my professional life. While scheduling the on-site interview, I asked many times for the salary range but was never provided that information upfront and was told that someone else will contact me to give that information to me.
Since I was very much interested in the position, I continued with the process and conducted an on-site interview. It went very well and I met the hiring team. The interview was very engaging and I felt it was good overall where the team felt satisfied with my answers. I also did a 30 minute presentation to the team on a problem I solved in my professional life.
The following day I received a phone call to do the “initial” phone screen to go over my background, experience and salary requirements. The entire process was backwards where they called me after on-site interview to do a “phone screen”. I felt I had to give them the same information over which I had already provided to the team a day earlier. I sent my thank you letters right after my on-site interview and was told that they will make a decision by early next week.
On Monday the following week, I sent a follow up email asking for any kind of feedback, good or bad but never received any response. I waited another week and followed up the second time but again received no response. This entire process felt very unprofessional. The least they could have done was to give me some kind of feedback and provide a response to either I was selected or not for the role especially after they wasted my time by not doing the initial phone intake upfront which would have given them insight on my salary expectations for the role.
The only feedback I received was from the person who did the phone screen, a day after the on-site interview, when she learned that my salary expectation was on the high end of salary range at Eaton If my salary expectation was the reason I was not selected, I wish that information was provided to me prior to the on-site. They lacked the decency to email me back to give some kind of feedback after several followup attempts.
This just shows the lack of professionalism at this company, or at least at the Irvine location. I hope they do not continue to perform these unprofessional practices or else they will lose very valuable talent.
