I applied through a recruiter. The process took 1+ week. I interviewed at EF Education First in Nov 2014
Interview
The interview was pretty straight forward. I was given two interview tasks via email five days before the actual interview. I was to determine the level, objective and prepare a demo lesson using the materials that I'd been given. The interviewer was very funny, kind and interesting. She asked typical interview questions and asked me to elaborate on a few of my answers. Then I gave a demo lesson and we discussed the company.

The ESL interview typically is Online with Academic Director. Easy straightforward questions. No teaching demo. Situational questions to assess classroom management skills, adaptability, and cultural awareness. Even if you don't have teaching experience, there is a high chance to land ESL job there.
I interviewed at EF Education First (Shanghái, Shanghai)
Interview
Easiest interview I've had, they talked more as if I already had the job. Asking questions like where in china did I want to be. Don't stress, just be relaxed and talk about why you want to teach and why you want to live in china.
