I applied in-person. The process took 3 days. I interviewed at Dollar General in Sep 2021
Interview
I got a call two days I put in my application and the manager asked if I could come in for an interview. Interview was 5 minutes. How soon I could start, and my past experience. They told me they thought I would be an excellent fit and would call me in a day or two after calling my references. The next day I went in to sign my employment papers and fill out my W-2.
I applied online. I interviewed at Dollar General in Jan 2023
Interview
I spoke to several people over the course of 2 hours in an initial interview. The questions ranged from personality questions to simple "what if" scenarios. I was able to learn more about the position, but overall, the interview was pretty relaxed.

Question 1
Imagine that one of our stores is not performing as well as several others in close proximity. How would you think about this situation?
I applied in-person. The process took 1 day. I interviewed at Dollar General in Nov 2019
Interview
Over worked with back breaking labor and under paid. None of your cashiers ever show up or call in so your left to do all the stocking and running the cash register 99% of the time by yourself. Usually doing a double shift. Only having one day off a month. If you are a key holder or a manager, you basically get no lunch breaks. You are not allowed to leave the store on your lunch breaks, and if your cashiers need change, an exchange, or void you will have to work off the clock. Too many unwanted overtime hours. Constantly having to pick up shifts at other locations because nobody can show up for their job because it's Dollar General and nobody wants to work at Dollar General. YOU HAVE BEEN WARNED.

Question 1
No interview took place. I went in person to turn in my application and received the job on the spot. This should have been my first red flag.
