I applied online. The process took 1+ week. I interviewed at Dollar General
Interview
Applied online. Received call to schedule an interview weeks later.
Interviewer (Store Manager) complained that I showed up early (because she wanted to smoke a cigarette); I offered to wait and she refused. In twenty minutes, I may have been able to speak a dozen words, which were mostly loudly cut off by SM who rambled about current associates.
I was told a background check would be submitted (the only disqualifying factor being a felony) and I would be contacted when the results were received. After a week, I called to check in and SM claimed she was still waiting on results. A few days later, I received a copy of the background check and a notice that I had been disqualified from consideration due to a misdemeanor several years prior.

Question 1
N/A- the interviewer did more talking than interviewing.
I applied online. The process took 1 week. I interviewed at Dollar General (Phila, PA)
Interview
I applied on a Thursday and was called in for an interview that following Wednesday. The Interview was pretty loose, he said a lot of negative things about the store, cursed frequently, spoke about his wife etc I wasn't sure if this was done purposely to discourage me from wanting this job or if he just felt comfortable talking to me about these things. He asked me the usual interview questions, then he gave me a tour of the store and backroom. Overall, it was a very easy experience.

Question 1
Surprisingly, I didn't have any difficult questions.
I applied through other source. The process took 1 day. I interviewed at Dollar General (Louisa, VA) in Mar 2013
Interview
To be honest, the hiring manager tried her best to discourage me from accepting the terms of employment. Everything she said about DG is true. They have a poor value system in regards to their employees. Esp their Part-timers.

Question 1
To be honest, I was asked no difficult or unexpected questions. If anything it was the knowledge that I was more of a barter than wanted candidate. They hoped to obtain another employee from another store by hiring me.
