I applied in-person. The process took 5 days. I interviewed at Dollar General (Smyrna, GA)
Interview
I applied for a job at Dollar General after noticing an ad saying they were hiring. I gave the manager my application and she called me the next day, I went for the interview and was told to take the training program on the computer. At first she didn't say I was hired and so I was told to take a drug test and then called and told I was hired. She said to wait for a call to set up my hours and told me "Welcome to the Dollar General Family". On Monday I was out getting medicine for my son in law, and the new manager called, they were changing stores cause a new one had opened. So he asked me for my full name, I gave it to him. Then he said "Oh your that cute young white chick that comes in here, Right? I was like no, and he said real quickly, "Oh let me call you back" and he never did. I waited a couple of days and when I called again, my information had been completely lost.
I don't think that they are very professional, and he was only looking for young cute females. The first manger was a bit aloof but I chalked it up to her being rushed to the new store.

I applied online. The process took 1 week. I interviewed at Dollar General (Newville, PA) in Feb 2013
Interview
I was called to come in for an interview, went for my interview where I answered questions about myself and was informed of nature of work, and a few days later was called with a start date. It really depends on the store manager how the interview goes.

Question 1
For me the question that is always most difficult is "What are your weaknesses?"
I applied online. The process took 2 weeks. I interviewed at Dollar General (Meridian, TX) in Aug 2014
Interview
I applied at store locations close to my house and she didn't even interview me she called and talked to me sent me the hiring packet via email and than wanted me to come in and do an interview. And the lady doing all this was an assistant this store didn't even have a manager there, she wanted to communicate thru other employees via text. I waited days for my schedule and never heard anything. Another store called me for an interview so I went and got offered a job there which I took cause she actually looked at my application and gave me credit for my experience. But the other store had me locked up in the system, she said she would get it all straightened out and give me a call it's been over a week and I haven't heard anything from her and she doesn't return phone calls. I had another store call me I explained to her my situation and she said she would call and talk to the other store about what there gunna do. I still haven't heard anything from anyone and it's been two weeks I have called but never get a phone call back.
