Direct call to my phone with a recruiter. She showed up late and it was obvious she never read my resume. She asked about 4 basic questions and gave me the opportunity to ask one question. After not knowing how to answer my question she asked if I had any others to which I said no. She then abruptly said “have a nice day” and then hung up.

Thank you for this feedback. What you described is not the candidate experience we aim for and does not reflect the standards we set for our recruiting teams across Databricks. We value every candidate's time and preparation. We have shared your feedback directly with our recruiting leadership to ensure this is addressed internally so we can provide a better experience moving forward. We appreciate you sharing your experience and wish you the best in your search.
No OA, straight to technical interviews. Both were standard LC questions with a current engineer. Had to explain thought processes and was stressful if one test case didn't pass. Last round was a behavioral / resume grill with a senior employee or manager.
The Databricks interview is notoriously tough and they absolutely live up to that reputation. The process moved quickly but the technical bar is incredibly high. They do not care how fast you can solve a generic LeetCode puzzle. They want to see if you understand memory management, distributed state, and thread safety. The virtual onsite had a mix of deep system architecture and a heavy live coding session where you actually have to compile, run, and debug your code.
