I applied in-person. The process took 3 days. I interviewed at DICK'S Sporting Goods in Apr 2008
Interview
They didn't look at my application until I called the business about the job opportunity. After the call, I was able to schedule an interview. This took about a day and overall was a very easy interview. I only had to interview once which only took about 30 minutes to complete.

Question 1

Interview
The interview was in the employee break room which seems a little unprofessional. The assistant manager questioned me and only asked two questions, I barely got to speak about myself. Then he started rambling about the importance of selling the customer more than they actually need and I that's when I found out I was being interviewed for a cashiering position instead of a sales associate. He was very honest about the turnover rate, saying that I probably won't stay on for long. I'm not sure where he got that idea. He took a phone call, made no apologies, and then sent me on my way. I didn't get asked much and I didn't have much time to sell retail experience. I've not gotten a call back. Not too disappointed I suppose

I just advise you to have your set pay in mind. If you have experience, stand firmly on what your minimum hourly wage that can be accepted. Therefore when they make you an offer, you can have already thought it out and be prepared.
