I applied online. The process took 2 weeks. I interviewed at Costco Wholesale (Saint Albert, AB) in Aug 2015
Interview
I applied online and was contacted a few days later. Offered an interview the following week. The interview was contacted my the department manager and the area manager. Asked five-ten questions and there were very easy to answer. I was then offered a second interview with an assistant manager immediately following my first interview. Completed that interview and was then told I would be contacted. However, I was not contacted and a week passed. I contacted the department manager to ask about the status of my application and was told me was planning to call me, and asked when I could start.
Interview questions [1]
Question 1
Describe a time when a customer was upset and how did you handle it?
Why do you want to work at Costco?
First a phone screening, just to get to know your availability and about the job. Then you schedule an in person interview. You first interview with two managers of different departments, and then you interview with the head manager. If you pass, you take the drug test and background check,
its hard to get an interview, You can either go up there or apply online and it seems like they rarely get back with you. your application is in limbo.
I interviewed at Costco Wholesale (Auburn, New South Wales)
Interview
Panel interview, I think they place priority on potential hires based on work culture and whether you will fit the company culture since training can be taught on-job. There is not much scope on which area of merchandising you may be allocated ie. frozen foods, snacks, alcohol etc, so not much choice. It is fast-paced, demanding and requires physical labour.
