I applied through an employee referral. The process took 4 weeks. I interviewed at Citi (Fort Worth, TX) in Jun 2024
Interview
I interviewed for the Citi's product manager position. Let me start with the HR management, it is so laid back, slow, and disorganized, that it ruins the interview process. It was so hard to contact the HR team to get scheduled for an interview.
Finally, when an interview was scheduled, I met the hiring manager, who was a systems analyst first, then moved to consulting, and then a product manager. I literally had a similar trajectory of career path, to which he said, it may be a challenge as I do not have lending/banking experience. Did he look back to his career path? I answered all my experiences and his questions in STAR methodology and relevant to the role. A week later they rejected me with no feedback.
Big companies treating applicants like garbage in this 2024 job market is the worst scenario. This not only demotivates an individual but also brings down their confidence and mental well-being.

Question 1
1) Questions related to Experiences.
2) Questions related to Job fit/background.
Zoom interview with senior members of the team. Interview was really easy. Asked about past experiences and how background can be used in the new role. Asked about familiarity in the loan space.
Two interviews. Not that bad. Casual conversation to gauge compatibility. More personality based questions as I have demonstrated product experience. I know that other people had more interviews, but because I joined the team early on, it was a quick process.
