I applied online. The process took 2 months. I interviewed at Centene (Westmont, IL) in Oct 2017
Interview
I applied to work for one of Centene's subsidiaries, but I'm not even sure how Centene or any of its subsidiaries are functioning at this point. Centene's vetting and interviewing process was very dysfunctional. My interview was held during a career fair in a nice location, but my interviewer seemed unequipped to ask questions and evaluate potential. She spent most of her time struggling to write down my interview answers and she could barely hold a conversation with me. Nevertheless, she recommended that I be hired for the job, only for me to never hear back from the company again. Good riddance because I can't even imagine how disorganized the job orientation process would have been. It seems like the company is more interested in seeming like they have things under control rather than actually having things under control. Perhaps there is an incentive for them to simply have a large volume of attendants at their career fairs, regardless of whether they really know how to manage said applicants. Whatever the case may be, save yourself valuable time and apply to another company.
I applied through a recruiter. The process took 2 months. I interviewed at Centene in Oct 2017
Interview
The interview wasn't too bad but most managers appears to be nice but use your national origin as a basis in decision making. Went for 3 or 4 job interviews but never called back. I have over 10 years experience in this field. Well, it was a good experience though. I will still keep trying. Lol

Interview
I applied for a Director position in Pennsylvania in July. I received an email in early August informing me my application was being moved to the next step of the process. I had an interview in mid August with the staff Vice President of Complex Care. The interview went well and was very conversational. The interviewer provided information about the company and its growth and the position. At the end of the interview, she indicated that she would reach out to the recruiter and that she wanted me to meet the "on-site" team within one week. A second interview was scheduled in early September which the Plan Product President and the Chief Operating Officer. The interview was then postponed to late September. I was provided with a conference call number and phoned in, waiting 30 minutes on the line. The two interviewers never came on the line and I was not made aware the conference call had been cancelled until several days later. The reason I was provided was that due to the storm in Florida, there was not access to let me know the conference call interview was cancelled. I did not receive any updates for several weeks and attended a job fair in late September, where I was able to interview with a director from another state. I finally received another invitation to interview with a Vice President in mid October. I received an email several days after the interview informing me that Centene had decided to not fill the position at all. In all, the interview process took four months.
I had the experience of working with a very knowledgeable recruiter. I believe the entire Talent Acquision process to be quite lacking. I applied for other jobs for Centene. For example, I applied for a mid level position in the Call Center, but was denied due to lack of experience, when I had 7 years of experience in supervising a 24/7 Call Center. Updates for the positions were infrequent and Centene has a reputation on Glassdoor for not maintaining communication with candidates who are already in the recruitment process. Several days after I received information that the position was not being filled, I received a job offer with a competing MCO.
Centene also uses a variety of recruiting agencies to recruit for their positions. These include AFALI, CTG, HCS Healthcare, Murtech Consulting. The agencies cannot assist you if you have applied to Centene within the past 6 months, so you may want to bypass an application with Centene and apply with one of these agencies instead.
