I applied through other source. The process took 4 days. I interviewed at CarMax (Melbourne, FL) in Oct 2018
Interview
Pretty standard interview questions plus a simulated sales walkthrough. After all the online application, personality, ethics review and a phone interview they bring you in for a in-person interview. It's pretty straightforward for the most part.

I applied online. The process took 2 weeks. I interviewed at CarMax (Merrillville, IN) in Sep 2018
Interview
Applied online. Fairly lengthy online application process involving testing, surveys. HR called to schedule a phone interview with a manager. Phone interview took about 20 minutes. Manager advised he would have HR call to schedule an in-person interview. Arrived at the appointed hour, about 10 minutes early - the person I was to meet with was not yet in the store. 20 minute wait. Was taken into the showroom and sat down at a computer, asked to fill out some more online forms. Once this was complete, waited another 20 minutes for the manager to arrive for the interview. He asked the standard "describe a time you did ___" questions. Went outside and did a sales presentation/demonstration on one of the vehicles. He asked if I had any questions, and I had several. We had a pretty good discussion about Carmax, the sales process in general, the Carmax method. Manager asked if I had time to speak with another manager, and I said yes. After another 20 minute wait, the original manager came back and said the store manager's schedule was crazy, he would have to call me. Three days later, I got an e-mail saying thanks but no thanks. Never got the call from the store manager. Sent an e-mail to the HR rep asking for advice on future interviews, what they thought I could do better, what to work on - no response. Second in-person interview I've had with Carmax in three years, second time they've said no after bringing me in.

I applied online. The process took 2 days. I interviewed at CarMax (Woodbridge, VA) in Jul 2018
Interview
They start off with an extensive online application which gives them a good idea of your personality and if you'd be a good fit. If you pass that screening process you will go through a phone interview which lasts about 10 minutes. they ask about what you look to accomplish in that role, why you chose the company, what skills you can contribute to the company, etc. After that is an on-site interview which lasts about an hour. They make you fill an online interview which takes about 15 minutes. After they make you role play selling a car so they can sense your personality.
