I applied online. The process took 2 weeks. I interviewed at CarMax (Loveland, CO) in Dec 2016
Interview
I applied online through the Carmax website. A few days later I was called and Carmax scheduled a phone interview. The phone interview was pretty basic and they made it clear that they wanted it to be more of a conversation rather than an interrogation.
The phone interview was pretty quick and easy. I think it's more of a basic screening to make sure you're not a total weirdo. After the the phone interview was done they said they wanted to have me in for a face-to-face interview.
A few days later I went to Carmax for the interview. They had me first fill out some basic background questions on the computer. These questions were about past drug use, any crimes committed, etc.
After the computer questions they had me speak with someone who just went over my answers to the questions on the computer. Pretty easy and they just want honesty.
Once that interview was finished then I had a more normal interview with someone else. They asked 7 or so questions that all focused on learning something. I.E. name a time when you did this, and learned that. Questions like that. It seemed pretty easy as long as you could come up with good real life examples.
I thought the interview went pretty well and it felt pretty easy overall. They said they would let me know by the end of the week. (That was on a Monday.) On Friday I called Carmax to see what the status was and they told me they would let me know by Saturday.
Saturday morning I received an email from Carmax saying that they decided to pursue other candidates.

Interview
The hiring and interview process was very easy. I applied for the job on Indeed and received a call to come in for an interview shortly after. I went to the interview, where I met the Management Assistant (who was very fun and sociable), and she placed me at a computer to start filling out my employment history.
After I met the Management Assistant, I was interview by at least 3 senior managers of the building. The interview process took more than 3 hours, so make sure that you have plenty of time. I was offered the positon the same day.

Interview
The reviews on Glassdoor were 100% correct. I went in and immediately had to go to the computer to fill out all the information for the background check. Then waited 30 minutes for a 2 person-panel interview and they asked me why did I leave other jobs, do I become bored with jobs easily? Very invasive questions that a company should not legally be asking during the interview...but what do you expect from a company that does an intense background check on you. Then I waited another 20 minutes for a 1:1 interview which I thought went really really well. The guy talked to other people and then told me "We will call you if we want you to come back" which means hey, thanks for applying but you didn't get it.
