I applied online. The process took 1 week. I interviewed at CarMax (Clackamas, OR) in Sep 2018
Interview
They had me come in for an interview at 10am, which was when the business opened so I was left waiting outside . When I finally got inside I was made to wait longer as no one was ready for me yet. Finally, they sat me down in a small room where I had to do an initial pre-interview form on a computer, After I completed that, I had to wait 30 minutes for the first interview (since the man wasn't even at work yet). He asked me a series of questions based on the form i'd completed on the computer. They made me interview with 3 different men, with large waiting periods in between as most of them hadn't arrived at work yet or were not ready. At the end I was waiting another 30 minutes to take a drug test. The entire process took over 3 hours, which they had not let me know prior too me coming in.

I applied through an employee referral. The process took 2 weeks. I interviewed at CarMax (Richmond, VA) in Jan 2017
Interview
First part was a phone interview, where they just asked me typical questions.
Interview took about half the day. Mine started at about 8AM and they took me around campus and showed me all of the facilities. There were about 3 parts of the interview, one was an extremely relaxed lunch with two people, one was lounging with other candidates talking to two other people, one was a typical panel interview of two HR people. The whole interview was pretty relaxed.
I applied through an employee referral. The process took 1 day. I interviewed at CarMax (Clackamas, OR) in May 2016
Interview
Very friendly process. Was greeted at buisness office adn directed into nice quite room in back. Met with at least 4 people thorughout process. Before arriving I was informed of the entire process so I knew what to expect. Everyone was very friendly and welcoming. The interview process is given in steps. The more people you meet or longer you are there, the better chance you will be hired. I was offered the job after the interview. Feel free to bring snacks if at lunch time, and politely ask if they mind if you munch. Very easy going. The only slightly more stressful thing is when they ask you do "show" them a vehicle. They are really looking for your friendliness, confidence, and enthusiasm. They don't really care if you know car facts yet or not. They also make you take a long personality quiz on a computer.
