      Service/Customer Operator Interview

      Nov 20, 2015
      Anonymous Interview Candidate
      No offer
      Negative experience
      Easy interview

      Application

I applied online. The process took 1 week. I interviewed at CarMax

      Interview

Applied online, then phone screening from Service Dept. Mgr. An in-person interview scheduled a few days after. I researched reviews, company and what to expect during interviews via feedback from Glass Door. Good thing I did and honestly I should've stayed away from this company. I knew about their "assessment" they have you take beforehand, but I will get to that issue in a minute lol. So I arrive on time and let someone know I was there. About 10 min later, a lady greets me, informs me I have to take the computer assessment and immediately asks for my SS#. I could have typed my # in myself, as I feel this is an intrusion. Wow! The background asks if you ever kidnapped, murdered, etc. It was crazy. They want all jobs you didn't list on app or resume going back 7 years, addresses, DL #. Then you have to sign papers for background, drug test, dmv, etc. The "assessment" took about 5 min then I had to go find someone to let them know I was done. I waited another 15 min. then I signed more paperwork. She told me someone will be out to meet me and I waited another 10-15 minutes in the main showroom which was pretty busy. A guy from service dept comes out to interview me, in the showroom no less, and it was unnerving. There was so much going on around us, it was loud, and he spoke so quietly I could barely hear him. He started using the STAR scripted questions. My 8 year old could've conducted a better interview!! He had no interview skills, didn't seem genuine. Aced 5 questions as I had prepared. Typical "Tell me about a time...." yada yada. Lasted about 5-8 minutes! He tells me someone else will be out shortly. Waited yet again then the woman asks me to wait in the service waiting room.I wait another 10 min and Service Mgr brought me back to showroom again for the exact same interview, which again aced. No personality from him either. If I didn't need the job I would've walked out. 2 days later called said still interviewing. Got reject ltr 5 days later. No idea why.
