I applied online. I interviewed at Capital One (Richmond, VA) in Jul 2017
Interview
Applied for the position through capital one careers site. Got a response from the recruiter about a week later and had a quick 15 min conversation regarding the position. 3 days later talked to Hiring Manager for 30 min about the current position at capital one and what they are looking for and the process they follow and a quick chat about my resume. I was asked to fly down to Richmond,VA the following friday for a power day (in person interview) with all expenses paid trip. The recruiter was in constant touch providing all the travel information and the interview schedule (4 - 45 min in person interviews) and a brief idea what the (behavior) interview is going to be like.
On the power day, I was scheduled for the morning slot with two job fit interviews and two behavior interviews with the senior staff in the organization where this job was. The first job fit interview was with the hiring manager - non technical. Mostly about the past experiences and how you fit into this position.
The second one was a behavior interview mostly about Given this situation, what was the task and what was the action and results ? (STAR).
Followed by a 15 min break. Then the third one was a job fit interview with the solutions architect. This was an engaging one based on my resume and the current job duties..there were some technical questions ..tell me about what you did on these items on your resume. As a follow up questions ..I have asked about the system architecture and the Sol. Architect took the time to provide all the information.
The final one was a behavior interview with the senior Dev manager. It followed the similar patter as in the earlier behavior and that concluded the day. The limo was waiting to take me back to the airport.
The hiring manager was very positive about the resume and he mentioned there was another interview scheduled for the later afternoon and I should hear from the recruiter soon whether the interview was a success or not.
The following monday I got the feedback that the interview was a success and offered me the offer letter. Over all it was a great experience especially I did not attend any interviews in the last 10 + years or so and this was the first one. Being positive and confident about past experience and what you can offer definitely is great advantage and overall it was a positive experience for me.
