I applied through a recruiter. The process took 3 weeks. I interviewed at Capital One (Cambridge, MA) in Aug 2025
Interview
Power Day is a gauntlet of interviews. Takes very long to schedule an interview panel, and you need to take a day off to participate. Overall not the best interviewee experience.
I applied online. The process took 1 week. I interviewed at Capital One (McLean, VA) in Oct 2025
Interview
4 Hours Long - 1 Hour Break - 3 Hours Total.
First technical question, consists of 3 parts - Part A, Part B, Part C. Don't expect you to get through all the parts but make sure you talk through the solution.
Second Round (1 Hr) - Finished in 30 minutes Behavior Questions:
- Tell me a time when you challenged the status quo
- Tell me about a time you learned something new quickly
- Tell me about a conflict with a teammate or difficult person.
Use STAR Responses and you should be fine. Capital One repeats these same type of questions with nothing new in this round. Developer's and Senior Engineers interview this round which is funny because it is behavioral so expect nothing out of the ordinary.
Last round: Senior Technical manager Round.
- Introductions of Each other
- Introductions to a case study of Virtual Cards (What is the business value of Virtual cards?)
- Processing Rules
- Test Case Walkthrough, answer them not code.
- Code Reviews and Bugs (No code, just point them out and explain why. The "why" relates back to the logic of processing rules)
- Little coding towards the end to test edge cases.
- That's all.
