I applied through other source. I interviewed at Capital One (Toronto, ON) in Feb 2024
Interview
There are four steps in the process:
1. HR call (20-30 minutes)
2. Mini-case interview (45 minutes - 1 hour)
3. Case study
4. Behavioral interviews
I'm impressed by the quality of interactions a candidate can have.
1. HR call: The recruiter truly aims to set you up for success. They are very supportive, have a positive attitude, and answered all the questions I had. They explained the hiring process and the preparation required very clearly.
2. Despite expecting a negative experience based on previous feedback, my experience was quite the opposite. The mini-case is confidential, so I won't share details here. However, their guidance and the test mini-case they provide to every candidate are accurate and extremely helpful.
The interviewer was very understanding. When I struggled with calculations, he encouraged me to persevere, acknowledging that nerves might be a factor. He wasn't judgmental at all and offered hints to assist me. I truly appreciate his approach; it's a rare quality.
I didn't progress to the other steps, so I can't comment on them.
Interview questions [1]
Question 1
Similar to test mini-case they provide to each candidate. Make calculations around the costs, revenue etc.
I applied through an employee referral. The process took 6 months. I interviewed at Capital One (McLean, VA) in Dec 2023
Interview
Very long with multiple interviews and "mini case" day and a "power day" that consists of 5 interviews. Scheduling was a big challenge and the time from the first interview to the final offer took about 5 months. The recruiter I started with quit and it took a few weeks for me to be contacted by a new one to continue the process, so that might be part of the problem.
Interview questions [1]
Question 1
Power Day consists of consulting case-style interviews and there are video examples on YouTube. Mainly around starting up a company, revenue vs. profit, questions around tactics to make a business more profitable, or to cut cost.
I applied through college or university. I interviewed at Capital One
