I applied through an employee referral. The process took 2 weeks. I interviewed at CallisonRTKL (Shanghái, Shanghai)

I applied through a recruiter. The process took 2 weeks. I interviewed at CallisonRTKL in Mar 2023
Interview
I was reached out by a recruiter, the process took 2 weeks to hear back from the HR for an interview. The interview was through Teams with 1 principal. The interview was very casual, asking about my past experiences, and salary expectations. However, the salary they could offer is way below the market rate right now, and the principal tries to convince me that low rate is the matching the current market, which is not true. Not very pleasant experience in general.

Question 1
working experiences, salary expectations, why you want to make a move, standard questions
I applied online. The process took 2 weeks. I interviewed at CallisonRTKL
Interview
One senior person seems trying to be friendly but the other senior designer really just begin indifferent throughout the process, which really makes the process very uncomfortable and numb. They asked bunch of questions really without any tones so I feel like I was really being interviewed by robots.

Question 1
when is your earliest start date; do you mind relocate
Applied online and HR contacted me a few days later. I mentioned my salary range in the application. I proceeded to submit all the extra technical drawing sets they requested and then set up and interview once they seemed happy with the technical skill level. The interview was good and standard question. They then ask for references minimum of 5 references to fill out a questionnaire. After interview the HR person contacted me with a offer less than the range provided in the submitted online application. They wasted my time and my references time by interviewing me knowing they would not meet my salary range. If you interview bring up salary before wasting your references time in filling out their questionnaire.
