I applied online. The process took 3 weeks. I interviewed at CVS Health (New York, NY) in Apr 2025
Interview
Interview process included a recruiter screening call, followed by an interview with the hiring manager, and then two more interviews with senior team members.
Interview Content:
The technical interviews focused on basic ML theory and a mix of easy to medium-level SQL and Pandas questions (both SQL and Pandas)
Pros:
- The questions themselves were fair and relevant to the role
- The interviewers were professional during the calls
Cons:
- Extremely poor communication
- I was explicitly told there would be no coding in the first round, yet most of it involved SQL questions
- This lack of transparency continued in later rounds—no clear guidance on what skills or topics would be assessed, which made preparation difficult
- The overall experience felt disorganized and left a negative impression of their internal coordination

Question 1
How does random forest/ boosted trees work? and pretty basic ML stuffs
I applied through an employee referral. I interviewed at CVS Health (New York, NY) in Feb 2025
Interview
First round was an online assessment on statistics, SQL and Python. Statistics MCQs were moderate level. SQL was easy - 3 DML +2 DDL questions. Python section had 2 questions that needed me to code 2 ML techniques from scratch using numpy.
Next round was live coding with a Data Scientist from the company who was very nice. There were 4 SQL questions which were ridiculously tough to solve within the timeframe. The first question required multiple CTEs, joins, subqueries, window functions, union, aggregation and all the other formulas there are. The questions after that just increased in difficulty. The interviewer felt bad for me and asked me to just write pseudo code because we were going out of time. Next the python section was moderate and I got all of them done and ended with a few behaviour questions.

Question 1
Statistical distributions based on a case study scenario
I applied online. I interviewed at CVS Health (New York, NY) in Mar 2025
Interview
Interview Process was quite fast, I applied on Feb 17, within 10 days HR reached out to me for the phone screen round. Then I was moved to live coding round (SQL 3 ques- joins, union, window functions ; Python(Pandas) 4 ques- transpose dataframe, group by, merge).
After this I was moved to round 2 and round 3 which was technical screen ( ML Case study related and A/B testing ) and business screen ( Case study on experimental design, problem solving and A/B testing) which was done in 1 day.
After this I was moved to round 4 which was 30 min interview with the hiring manager ( director ) ( behavioural + team fit) and then I was moved to final round with the executive directior ( resume review, behavioural and team fit)
Be prepared to answer any questions related to work experience you have shown in your resume.
I received offer letter on March 21

Question 1
Q1: You are given claims data, with a feature that identify high risk patients who are possibly going to claim larger amount from aetna. You are working as a data scientist and you ran a campaign ( email ) to make high risk patients aware about there need to seek medicare so that they dont end up paying a lot which in return increase claim cost for aetna.
What will be your hypothesis?
What features will you use and why?
Q2: In aetna there are some members for whom getting radiography tests like xray is important and as a data scientist I have to make those patients aware about the non hospital centres where these tests are generally cheaper and would reduce medical cost for patients and claims for cvs.
How would you approach this problem
Q3: why you are looking for job and why do you want to work for cvs?
Q4: Tell me about a project which is your favorite and why it is your favourite
