      Business Operations Specialist Interview

      Apr 4, 2014
      Anonymous Interview Candidate
      New York, NY
      No offer
      Negative experience
      Easy interview

      Application

I applied online. The process took 6 days. I interviewed at CLEAR (New York, NY)

      Interview

The entire process began with an email from the VP of HR requesting an interview. Upon arriving I discovered that the space was very cramped and everyone was very young. There was very little about the entire experience that felt "professional." While I was kept waiting until a room opened up, I overheard at least 3 conversations between employees where the "S" word was dropped no fewer than 15 times. Despite being a client visited location many of the employees were inappropriately dressed in mini-skirts and long sleeve t-shirts. I met with the VP of HR and the VP of Operations during the course of my hour long interview. Neither one appeared to be well practiced at the interview process. I was asked a total of 4 questions between them, and was prompted repeatedly to come up with questions of my own. I had to ask what the details of the role were as they were not forthcoming at all. In addition, the entire office was outfitted with Mac computers, yet they asked how proficient I was in Microsoft excel. However, upon describing my skill set I was met with a blank stare as it was clear the VP of Operations had no idea what I was talking about. Finally, it was obvious that they were attempting to just brush me off as soon as they heard my salary expectations (which are well within range for this title in this market).

      Question 1

What single event was I most proud of in my career. This question was very generic and with a lengthy career, full of many events, tasks, relationships, and achievements to be proud of, I found this to be the hardest question to answer.
