I recently went through multiple interviews with the company, and the conversations seemed positive and constructive. While I understand that rejection is part of the job search process, what concerns me is what happened next.
After declining my application, the HR team updated the job description in a way that directly reflected ideas and details from my résumé and our interview discussions. It felt as though my input was valuable enough to refine their role requirements — just not valuable enough to move me forward in the process.
If a candidate’s profile and suggestions clearly influence how you reshape the position, that should be an indicator they’re a strong fit. It’s disappointing to feel like the contribution was appreciated more than the candidate who provided it.
I sincerely hope the decision wasn’t based on anything personal or biased, such as race or gender and I encourage the company to reflect on how it treats applicants whose insights help guide hiring decisions.
