I applied through a recruiter. The process took 1 day. I interviewed at CBRE (New York, NY) in Jun 2022
Interview
It was okay. The woman who interviewed me was kind of stiff so didn't make me feel very comfortable. There were a few basic behavioral-type questions, as well as a few accounting-specific questions that required the use of a pen and paper. Job description didn't specify that this was a client-facing role, and I had assumed their fund accounting team was actively managing CBRE's own investments. When I asked why someone internally was not being considered for this role, the answer was that the four accountants on this specific team had all been there less than a year and were not eligible/at the assistant controller level yet (was a red flag to me in that no one tenured was on the team; might be high turnover). Overall the interview wasn't too difficult and they wanted to do a second interview with me but I didn't think it was a fit so I declined.
