Absolutely a waste of time, ghosting on steroids. Had a friend refer me to the position and was called up for an interview by the hiring manager. The hiring manager did not show her face on camera and claimed she was having internet connection issues, so turning off her camera would make her connection smoother. In reality, it was more likely she had no intentions of wanting to hire me or fill the role and needed to hide her face to the camera like a coward. I also did interviews with a recruiter and another colleague. All of them were positive. The hiring manager even remarked that "we spoke for 45 minutes and it felt like just 5 minutes. This is great." And then the silence...
I emailed a few times asking for next steps and the recruiter once emailed me and said there was a "delay with the position." I had realized they likely ghosted, but then an entire 4 weeks after my last email with the recruiter, my friend that had referred me told me they had to back fill a more senior position, so I should follow up again. So I emailed the recruiter again and she said she would follow up with the hiring manager. And that was the last I heard from them. It's been 3 months since the last communication.
Lesson learned here is that these pharma companies like to interview candidates with no chance of hiring them so that they can check off their boxes that they interviewed a diverse set of candidates. Don't waste your time with these clowns. Read the other reviews here as well. You will see the same patterns of delays and ghosting.
